Samsung Galaxy S2 Release Date

If you're anxiously awaiting the Samsung Galaxy S2 release date here in the United States, it looks like your wait is nearly over.

Yonhap news is now reporting that Samsung's president of the mobile business and digital imaging department, Shin Jong-kyun, commented that "We expect to release the Galaxy S2 in the U.S. market sometime in August."

To this point, the Samsung Galaxy S2 has been wildly popular internationally with global sales of nearly 3 million units within 55 days of its original release date (April 28, 2011) in South Korea.

Expected to be carried by Verizon Wireless, the Samsung Galaxy S2 will definitely be sporting the latest in cutting edge mobile technology.

It has a 4.3" Super Amoled Plus screen to provide for better readability from different viewing angles.  As an added benefit, the new Super Amoled Plus touchscreen technology also provides for better battery consumption. Full 1080p video recording and playback is supported. And, as would be expected with today's most advanced smartphones, the Galaxy SII comes with an auto focusing 8MP Camera with built-in LED flash support and a 2MP front-facing camera.

Under the hood, the Galaxy S 2 will be powered by an Exynos dual-core processor. The user interface will be the 3D TouchWiz UX (yes, for three-dimmensional GUI support). And, it's all packaged in an extremely thin 8.49mm form factor.

When you look at the Samsung Galaxy S2 specs, there's no doubt it's going to be a big hit on the Verizon Wireless network.  Keep your fingers crossed for no delays in the Galaxy S2 release date.  We're ready for it to launch here in the States!

  1. The Samsung Galaxy S2 is definitely a largely anticipated phone and it’s no wonder why, since it has a dual core processor and that it comes with Android version 2.3 right out of the box. I am excited to get this phone, especially since I recently got my employee Sling adapter from DISH Network. With the Sling adapter, I can stream live and recorded TV to my Android devices everywhere I have 3G coverage or WiFi. DISH is actually offering Sling adapters for free so if anyone is interested, you can get info at http://bit.ly/iKbJ4Q.
