At the International CTIA Wireless 2011 show, Sprint announced the HTC EVO 3D as one of their soon to be best smartphone offerings from HTC. The HTC EVO 3D release date is expected to be sometime this upcoming summer 2011 and looks to be loaded with features.
Powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm 8660 Snapdragon CPU / processor, the HTC EVO 3D will run Android Gingerbread 2.3 with HTC Sense UI.
As with the original HTC EVO, the HTC EVO 3D will come to market with a 4.3 inch screen, but will feature a qHD 960 x 450 Autostereoscopic 3D display. As the name suggests, the new HTC EVO 3D will provide for 3D viewing of photos and videos without requiring the use of 3D glasses. Yes, without having to use 3D glasses!
It will also capture 3D photos and videos through the use of two, 5-megapixel, cameras (with a flash in between). A toggle button on the right side of the HTC EVO 3D will allow you to switch between 2D video recording at 1080p or 3D video recording at 720p.
Most initial reports indicate that the EVO 3D will come with 4GB of RAM and 1GB of ROM, but BGR is reporting that they think the specs may be reversed and the EVO 3D will actually ship with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of ROM storage instead. We'll know soon enough when we see what the HTC EVO 3D release date brings!
On a final note before you get a glimpse of the new HTC EVO 3G in the video below, the EVO 3D will be supported by a large 1730mAh battery. Will this provide for a fair amount of battery life for the HTC EVO 3D? We think it's a step in the right direction, but are guessing that the battery life will still disappoint in lieu of the new features it will need to power.
